Here you go, another custom Jelly Bean Android 4.1 ROM has come out for the Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100, which has seen quite a handful of Jelly Bean custom ROMs already. SlimBean ROM is an Android 4.1 ROM and is special in that it brings you all the features of the latest version of Android – such as the smooth as butter interface, intuitive actionable notifications, smart offline voice typing, etc – in an extremely lightweight and small package, coming up at just around 80 MB.
Galaxy S2 I9100G owners can find custom Jelly Bean ROMs → here.
Keep in mind that the ROM may not be completely bug-free as it is not an official Samsung Jelly Bean ROM, so some things may not work the same as they work normally, some Samsung specific features will not be available, and apps like the camera or contacts app will be different from stock ROM as well.
Let’s see how SlimBean ROM can be installed on the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Compatibility
This firmware and the guide below are compatible only and only with Galaxy S2, model number I9100. It’s not compatible with the I9100G or any other device. Check your device’s model number in: Settings » About phone.

How To Install Android 2.3.2 On Samsung Galaxy S
Gingerbread — in its semi-official form — has already leaked out for the Galaxy S, running on Android 2.3.2 (not Android 2.3.3, which is the latest version out there). While some Galaxy S variants are yet to get Android 2.2, aka Froyo, it’s strange that Samsung has already got an Android 2.3 ROM ready (in beta). Though, we totally love it that we have a new ROM to play with and boast of that Android 2.3 goodness.
If you want to install Android 2.3.2 on your Galaxy S, here is what you’ll need to do.
Disclaimer: The procedures discussed here are considered risky and we will not be liable for any damage happens to you or your phone, including bricking. So, know that you’re on your own.
Follow these step-by-step directions to install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on your Galaxy S:
Download the leaked Android 2.3.2 ROM from here — named chúng tôi Size: 241 MB approx.
Extract the chúng tôi file to any folder of your choice. You’ll get 3 files:
GT-I9000-MULTI-CSC-OXXJV1.tar.md5,
MODEM_I9000XXJVE.tar.md5 and
CODE_I9000XWJV1_CL31216_REV03_user_mid_noship.tar.md5.
Download the file: chúng tôi from here. Extract it to get these files:
Odin3 v1.7,
s1_odin_20100512.pit (no need to use this file in this tutorial) and
s1_odin_20100803.pit.
Save your data now. To save the whole ROM you’re currently using, install ROM Manager for free from the android market. Open it, Install the clockwork recovery. And then, select Backup ROM, for full backup of all settings and data and apps.
Once finished backing up. Switch Off your Galaxy S. make sure it’s disconnected from PC and connect it only when told.
Now, put it in Download Mode. For that, press these keys together – Volume Down + Power Button + Home Button.
In the PIT box, select the 8.3 pit from the step 3.3. Full name of 8.3 PIT: s1_odin_20100803.pit.

In the Phone box, select this file (from step 2.2) — MODEM_I9000XXJVE.tar.md5
In the CSC box, select this file (from step 2.1) — GT-I9000-MULTI-CSC-OXXJV1.tar.md5
Make sure all these boxes are ticked (do not keep them unticked) — Re-Partition, Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time.
Now connect your phone (which is in Download Mode since step 6) to computer.
Upon connecting, Odin will show “Added” under the message box.
Now, hit the START button to let the process begin.
When process at Odin finishes your phone will automatically reboot. You can unplug the cable now. That is, disconnect your phone from PC now, when reboot starts.
When your phone has restarted, you are on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread edition of Android. Congrats!
Check out the video below of our Galaxy S running Android 2.3.2. Surprisingly and very sadly, there is no improvement in benchmark score of Linpack — which is still at 14 MFLOPS, same as what we has with Android 2.2.
Update: Special Thanks to Lorbas — He’s the one who leaked the news for us all. If you’re looking for a Android News blog in Polish language, his website — chúng tôi — is the best place for you.
Update 2: We’re about to Root our phone with Android 2.3.2 ROM. So, check with us if you want to know the procedures along with the video. And guess what, Insanity already has a beta ROM running Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread and it’s pre-rooted too. We’ll also give that one touch, so expect some really serious — and fun — stuff to hit this page soon. Real soon.
Samsung Gear S2 Details Released In Full
Samsung Gear S2 details released in full [UPDATE: more images]
Three versions of Samsung’s newest smartwatch, the Gear S2, have been revealed today. Each of the three, the Samsung Gear S2, Gear S2 classic, and Gear S2 3G will come with round faces and Tizen for their software platform. While the Gear S2 and S2 classic will come with Wi-fi connectivity, a Gear S2 3G version will also be released with the same specifications save a slot for a 3G SIM card. Each of these devices will also come with Bluetooth 4.1 and NFC, and will be released likely by the end of the year.
According to Samsung, the difference between the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic is design preference. The Gear S2 classic is made for users who “prefer a more timeless watch design.” This device has a black finish and a matching “genuine leather” band. The Gear S2, on the other hand, is made for “those who are on-the-go and have an admiration for minimal and modern design.”
The Gear S2 will have two different color combinations, one in Dark Gray with a Dark Gray band, the other in Silver with a White band. Again, the Gear S2 classic will be all black and black.
Samsung Gear S2 and Samsung Gear S2 classic:
• Display: 1.2″, Circular Super AMOLED, 360×360, 302ppi
• Processor: unnamed Dual core 1.0 GHz
• OS: TIZEN for wearables
• Audio: Codec: MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+, Format: MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG
• RAM: 512MB
• Internal Storage: 4GB
• Dimensions: Gear S2 : 42.3×49.8×11.4mm (47g) Gear S2 classic : 39.9×43.6×11.4mm (42g)
• Battery: 250mAh wireless charging
• Sensors: Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light, Barometer
• Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
• Special Features: IP68 dust and water resistant
Samsung Gear S2 3G:
• Display: 1.2″, Circular Super AMOLED, 360×360, 302ppi
• Processor: unnamed Dual core 1.0 GHz
• OS: TIZEN for wearables
• Audio: Codec: MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+, Format: MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG
• RAM: 512MB
• Internal Storage: 4GB
• Dimensions: 44.0 x 51.8 x 13.4mm (51g)
• Battery: 250mAh wireless charging
• Sensors: Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light, Barometer
• Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G
• Special Features: IP68 dust and water resistant
Samsung suggests that the Wi-fi editions of these devices will last between 2-3 days, while the 3G version will last closer to 2 days.
UPDATE: Above you’ll see a gallery with more images of the Gear S2, S2 3G, and S2 classic.UPDATE 2: The Samsung Gear S2 “both Bluetooth and 3G connected models” will be available from Verizon. So says Verizon – without availability dates or pricing – but there it is!
Samsung also mentions today that the Gear S2 with 3G will work with the first-ever e-SIM with voice capability. They say that this means that users will be able to “perform quick functions without being closely tethered to their phone,” which to us makes it seem like the SIM card is doing voice processing, which would be… very strange. It’s far more likely that the SIM would continue to provide data while the smartwatch’s processor does the heavy lifting.
Samsung’s inclusion of NFC here means users will be able to make mobile payments with their wrist. At this time we’re unaware of any currently-active apps for mobile payments on Tizen, but we’d be unsurprised if the first were Samsung Pay.
Pricing and retail release has not yet been revealed for the Gear S2, Gear S2 classic, or Gear S2 3G.

Install Android 4.0 Aosp Rom On Captivate I897
We’re loving ICS on our Galaxy S i9000 and while its cousins in US — Vibrant, Captivate, etc. — were left behind in race to Android 4.0 rom port, those cool dudes are catching up now too. Using the Galaxy S port, ASOP Android 4.0 rom is now available on Captivate too, while one for Vibrant is also in works. Sadly, no progress is visible to us on Fascinate and Epic 4G.
Anyway, to install Ice Cream Sandwich on Captivate, I suggest you upgrade to Android 2.3 (if you haven’t) and have ClockWorkMod recovery installed, too — it’s very much required. Use Google if you need help on this.

Hey, this guide is a shorter version of the long and complete guide I wrote for Installing Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy S i9000. And made a video too for that (the one you see above). So I suggest you to take a look at that guide too if you get problems following the steps below. Btw, your phone (i897) doesn’t require flashing of a kernel, which i9000 requires.
Transfer the rom to your phone.
Power Off phone.
Reboot into recovery by holding both volume keys and then pressing power key.
Flash the rom using install zip from sdcard option.
While your phone is still in recovery mode, pull battery and after some 2 seconds put it back.
Reboot into recovery mode again the way you did in step 4.
Do Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Do Wipe Cache Partition
Now, flash the rom file two more times (without any worries) as you did in step 5.
After you’re done flashing, select reboot system now to reboot your phone.
The phone should boot up properly with Android 4.0 running coolly.
If it doesn’t boot up and gets stuck at boot logo (kernel screen), then go back to recovery and do steps 7 and 8 again and reboot (don’t do step 9 again).
It should boot up fine now. And if it doesn’t, blame your luck and simply repeat steps 4 to 9 again.
If you experience force close on market app, go to settings » applications » manage applications » all » Market » clear data. This should fix it.
If 3G isn’t working, do this:
If you boot up and you can’t get a 3G connection, download this and this and put them in your sdcard. Then boot into CWM and flash the 3genable script, then the superuser. Reboot, then set up your APN and install script manager from the market. In script manager, find /system/etc/init.d/99enable3G, select it and select run at boot, run as root, and run at network change. Save and exit, then reboot.
