Suggested March 2024 Microsoft Must Fix The Issue Of Exclusives Before Project Scorpio’s Arrival

With the recent cancellation of Scalebound, it’s clear that there could be an issue at Microsoft when it comes down to delivering quality exclusive titles to its fans. The Xbox One and Windows 10 are Microsoft’s main foothold in the entertainment market, and as such, the company must be able to elevate itself with Project Scorpio.

Project Scorpio

To do this, the games needs to be there, and we’re talking about video games that cannot be found on a PlayStation or a Nintendo platform. Yes, Microsoft has managed to release several new intellectual properties since the Xbox One came on the scene back in late 2013. However, Sony has been doing a better job, while the software giant can only rely heavily on older franchises such as Halo. Gears of War, and Forza.

Microsoft Needs Attractive New IPs

The last time Microsoft released a new IP on Xbox that caught the attention of gamers around the world, was in 2013 in the form of State of Decay. It was a surprise hit, and now the developer, Undead Labs, is working on a sequel known as State of Decay 2.

Now, if we look back at other new IPs exclusive to Microsoft platforms that were released after State of Decay, we see some troubling signs. For example, Ryse: Son of Rome was one the most prominent titles when the Xbox One launched, yet it turned out to be more of a technical showcase of the console rather than a memorable experience. It had the potential to be the God of War for Xbox, but the developers were unable to realize the importance of gameplay.

Then again, Ryse: Son of Rome began its life as a Kinect game before it was transformed to what we see now.

Another title we can’t help but mention is no other than Quantum Break. Let’s face it, most were excited about the game and what it could bring to the table. The videos of the game in action looked great, previewers had great things to say. However, then the title launched and the reviews began to trickle out, everything began to go downhill. Another new Microsoft exclusive that probably won’t ever have a sequel in the near or distant future.

Project Spark

Project Spark is also one of those exclusives that failed to live up to the hype created by Microsoft. Such a shame because it had potential. The ability to create several games by using the tools Project Spark made available to players was enticing. The whole idea just failed to grab the masses, both on Xbox and Windows 10.

Last year, another new IP was launched for the Xbox One and Windows 10. It’s known as ReCore, and as you expect, it didn’t turn out to much in terms of ratings from reviewers and the general public.

With Project Scorpio less than a year away, Microsoft will need to work on its exclusives and first party problems or else the console will face serious challenges going forward after launch. The focus on 6 teraflops of GPU power and 4K alone won’t be enough to propel Project Scorpio to greatness.

With E3 2023 just a few months away, the company will have no choice but to impress in order to keep gamers interested. Furthermore, Microsoft will need to make sure another Scalebound debacle doesn’t happen again, at least, not for a long time to come.

Microsoft Says The Surface Book 3 Will Be 50 Percent Faster Than Before

Microsoft launched the Surface Book 3 on Wednesday, refreshing the powerful detachable 2-in-1 with 10th-gen Intel Core chips and the choice of either an Nvidia GTX or Nvidia Quadro RTX GPU to enable real-time ray tracing.

Microsoft claims the Surface Book 3 will deliver 50 percent more performance than the Surface Book 2, which offered a choice of Intel’s 7th-gen and 8th-gen processors. The Surface Book 3 offers Intel’s 10th-gen Ice Lake chips and a choice of GPUs: Nvidia’s GTX 1650 (Max-Q) and GTX 1660 Ti (Max-Q), as well as its Quadro RTX 3000 (Max-Q). Maximum memory soars to 32GB, and there’s a whopping 2TB storage option for what the company is claiming is its fastest SSD ever. Microsoft’s also claiming that the Book 3 delivers up to 17.5 hours of battery life, divided between batteries in the tablet and the base.

The Surface Book 3 remains Microsoft’s flagship 2-in-1, which can detach into tablet mode as well.

Surface Book 3 basic specifications

You don’t have to look far down Microsoft’s pricing list to be able to say with certainty: with a starting price of $1,599, the Surface Book 3 is going to be expensive. As you can see from the configuration options below, you should be able to find a version that’s a productivity powerhouse, a decent gaming machine, and/or a portable workstation.

Microsoft is saying that, by default, the Surface Book 3 will ship with Windows 10 Home, a somewhat odd choice for a mobile workstation. Users can also upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, or buy a Surface Book 3 for Business, which will apparently ship with Windows 10 Pro by default.

One important fact that doesn’t show up in the Surface Book 3’s spec sheet is this: During our original Surface Book 2 review, we discovered that under peak load (including gaming), the Surface Book 2 drew too much power for the Dock to provide. In other words, the Book 2 drained the battery while plugged in. Subsequent testing confirmed other reports that the power draw exceeded that of the charger.

The Surface Book 3 should be able to connect to a pair of 4K monitors at 60Hz resolution.

The company appears to be covering its bases this time. It will ship with one of three chargers: a 65W (13.5-inch, Core i5), a 102W (13.5-inch, Core i7) or a 127W (15-inch) charger. Offering the lower-power Max-Q version of Nvidia’s GPUs should help, too. The new Surface Dock 2 will supply up to 199W, Microsoft representatives say. Considering the various options, we’d anticipate that Microsoft’s engineers have solved the power issue.

What to expect from the Surface Book 3

The Surface Book 2 remains one of Microsoft’s iconic designs. In laptop mode, it’s a traditional clamshell, apparently still boasting its curvy accordion hinge, which keeps the Surface Book from folding completely flat. The tablet portion can be detached, serving as a massive (though kickstand-less) version of the Surface tablets. (One Surface Connect port connects the tablet and base, and is user-accessible only in tablet mode.) The display can also be removed and reversed, so that whoever you’re facing can view the screen in what Microsoft calls View Mode. All of these options remain in the Surface Book 3.

The various viewing modes enabled by the Surface Laptop 3.

Physically, there seem to be few differences between the second and third generations of the Surface Book. Screen sizes and resolutions remain the same. Does the 15-inch Surface Book 3 include a 4K display? Well, not technically, as a 4K display adds up the total pixels in a 3840×2160 screen. The Surface Book 3’s 3240×2160 display includes the same vertical resolution, but trims a few pixels because of the Surface’s 3:2 aspect ratio.

The Surface Book’s accordion hinge remains in place.

The Surface Book 3’s ports also remain the same. It appears that the Surface Book 3 will establish a dedicated display connection via the Surface Connector to the new Surface Dock 2, while the USB-A and USB-C ports will connect to external storage and other peripherals. Microsoft’s still supporting the Surface Dial, with on- and off-screen interaction. Gamers, take note: Though you can connect a wireless Xbox One controller to the Surface Book 3, this feature is only enabled on the 15-inch model.

Anyone who has used the Surface Book over a long period of time is aware that its keyboard’s key travel is one of the deepest among laptops. Unlike the Surface Laptop 3, whose travel was trimmed a bit in this generation, the Surface Book 3’s key travel is still a pleasantly comfy 1.55mm.

The Surface Book 2’s typing experience is one of the best in the industry, and we expect more of the same from the Surface Book 3.

Microsoft claims that the Surface Book 3’s battery life is a satisfying 15.5 hours for the 13.5-inch model, and 17.5 hours for the 15-inch version. The Surface Books 1 and 2  blazed a trail ahead of many of the laptops we see today with all-day battery life, though they did so simply by offering two batteries: a 23.2 Watt-hour battery in the tablet, as well as a separate 62.2Wh battery in the base.

We’d expect similar battery capacities in the Surface Book 3. Our Surface Book 2 review unit delivered about 13 hours of battery life against Microsoft’s claim of 17 hours, leading us to believe those numbers will be repeatable in the Surface Book 3.

The Surface Laptop 3 supports the Surface Pen and Surface Dial.

What will Surface Book 3 performance look like?

Nvidia’s high-end GTX 1060 within the original Surface Book 2 is both faster than the Surface Book 3’s low-end GPU option—the Nvidia GTX 1650 (Max-Q)—but far slower than the other, the GTX 1660 Ti (Max-Q). Nvidia’s GTX 1060 has a GPU frequency of 1,506MHz, with 1,280 CUDA cores. The mobile GTX 1660 Ti runs at 1,550MHz, but with 1,536 CUDA cores behind it. That allows it a memory bandwidth of 288GBps, versus 192GBps for the GTX 1060. The GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q variant is said to be about 15 percent slower than the full-fat version.

Those hoping for an Nvidia RTX part for real-time ray tracing have had their prayers answered, though the Quadro chip Microsoft selected is optimized for workstations, not gaming. The Quadro RTX 3000 (Max-Q) inside the Surface Book 3 is also on the lower end of the scale.

The Surface Book 3, then, crosses the threshold into “gaming PC,” but not as much as a dedicated gaming laptop. It’s a content-creation workstation and a portable tablet, too. The Surface Book 3’s soul doesn’t seem to have wandered far from Microsoft’s original vision. Soon, we’ll learn how its performance shapes up as well.

Is Vivaldi Not Syncing: 5 Confirmed Ways To Fix The Issue

Is Vivaldi Not Syncing: 5 Confirmed Ways to Fix the Issue It’s usually a trivial problem to blame for the syncing issue

Vivaldi not syncing will make it impossible to access your browser information on your other devices.

Vivaldi is a browser with a lot of unique features and performance. It works on Chromium, a web browser project employed by several other browsers. Often, users complain about Vivaldi not syncing data on their devices.

Like every other browser, Vivaldi is a work in progress with its downside and a fair share of issues, including Vivaldi not loading web pages. But problems with it are usually rare and easy to fix. So, let’s find out all about the problem at hand.

Why is Vivaldi not syncing?

Here are a few reasons you might be encountering the problem:

Outdated browser version: The problem was previously reported on a few versions of the browser, so make sure you are not running an outdated version.

Problems with the server: In some cases, you might face issues when the servers are down, though that’s a rare occurrence.

Password is not as per the guidelines: Some users reported that Vivaldi was not syncing since their passwords did not conform to the updated guidelines.

Misconfigured sync settings: If the Vivaldi settings are misconfigured, it will lower the browser’s performance and trigger issues when syncing tabs and other data.

Does Vivaldi sync across devices?

One of the pros of Vivaldi is the Sync feature. It allows you to synchronize your Vivaldi account information and data across your devices.

What can I do if Vivaldi is not syncing?

Before we head to the slightly complex fixes, here are a few quick ones you can try:

Log out and then re-login to your Vivaldi account.

Make sure your account password is as per the guidelines set by Vivaldi. If not, update the password and then re-login to all the devices.

Verify whether you are using the same username on all devices. Even the incorrect capitalization of alphabets can trigger problems and lead to Vivaldi not syncing. So check that and make the necessary corrections, if required.

If you are running Vivaldi Snapshot, switch to the stable version of Vivaldi, and the sync issues should be resolved.

In case nothing worked, head to the solutions listed next.

2. Make sure the sync settings are in order

Expert tip:

3. Reset remote data

Oftentimes, issues with the remote data can lead to Vivaldi not syncing, and a quick fix is to delete it. You may have to do it a couple of times over days, as reported by some users.

Remember, this only deletes information from the Vivaldi server, and that stored locally remains unaffected.

4. Delete the user data folder

That’s it! In most cases, you should be able to get things up and running when Vivaldi is not syncing by recreating the user data when it’s corrupt.

5. Manually sync Vivaldi

Paste the following path in Vivaldi’s address bar on the computer from which you want to sync the data and hit Enter:vivaldi://about

Now, copy the Profile Path listed here.

Open the File Explorer, and locate the Default folder using the earlier path.

Close the browser (terminate all its processes), and copy the Default folder to a USB drive.

Now, plug in the USB drive to another computer where you want the data to be synced, and paste the files in the same location. Make sure the browser is closed while this is done.

Finally, launch the browser on the current computer, and it should show the synced data.

That’s it! If nothing previously worked, manually syncing data between the two devices should do the trick when automatic syncing is not working on Vivaldi. Also, find the best ways to lower Vivaldi’s CPU usage for optimal PC performance.

If you still encounter the problem, switch to a more reliable browser. Check our list of the best browsers for PC and choose the one that best suits your requirements.

Fix Microsoft Edge Keeps Logging Me Out Of Websites

Most of us usually leave our accounts signed in on a web browser if we are using our personal computer. This prevents the hassle of entering our usernames and passwords every time we visit our favorite websites and open email clients in a web browser. But things are not happening as expected for some Microsoft Edge users. According to them, Microsoft Edge keeps logging them out of websites and email clients, like YouTube, Gmail, Reddit, etc., when they close Edge. They have to enter their usernames and passwords every time they open Microsoft Edge.

Microsoft Edge keeps logging me out of websites

Microsoft Edge is among the popular and secure web browsers. It also has some unique features that you will not find in other web browsers, like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. But sometimes, users may experience some issues or errors on Edge. If Microsoft Edge keeps logging you out of websites, the solutions provided in this article may help you fix it.

Tweak Microsoft Edge settings

Allow third-party cookies

Run a command in PowerShell

Reset Microsoft Edge settings to default

Below, we have explained all these solutions in detail.

1] Tweak Microsoft Edge settings

This problem usually occurs when Edge clears your cookies when you exit Edge. The session cookies in a web browser help users stay logged in to their favorite websites or email clients even when they close the browser. If the session cookie data is cleared or deleted by the user, he will be logged out of websites automatically. You can configure Edge to delete your browsing history, cookie data, download history, passwords, etc., every time you exit Edge. Check if this setting is enabled or not. If so, disable it.

The following steps will guide you on this:

Open Microsoft Edge.

Select the Privacy, search, and services category from the left side.

Turn off the button next to the “Cookies and other site data” option.

2] Allow third-party cookies

You will also experience this issue on some websites if you block third-party cookies in Edge. If you enable this option, some websites cannot use cookies due to which you will be logged out of those websites when you exit Microsoft Edge. If after disabling the clear cookie option in Edge, you are still experiencing the problem on some websites, check if you have blocked the third-party cookies or not.

The following steps will help you with that:

Open Microsoft Edge.

Select the Cookies and site permissions category from the left side.

Turn off the button next to block third-party cookies.

3] Run a command in PowerShell

If the problem still persists, there might be some S4U tasks scheduled in the Task Scheduler. When the tasks are created in the Task Scheduler for a particular user without storing their passwords, they are called S4U (Service for User). If the Task Scheduler is running any such tasks for Microsoft Edge, disabling those tasks can fix the problem.  The following instructions will guide you on how to find and disable such tasks.

If any S4U tasks are scheduled in the Task Scheduler, the above command will show you the list of those tasks. Now, make a note of all the tasks displayed in the PowerShell output. Open the Task Scheduler and disable all of them.

4] Reset Microsoft Edge settings to default

If you are still facing the same issue with Microsoft Edge, reset its settings to default. You can also use the following URL to reset Microsoft Edge settings.

How do I fix Microsoft Edge auto close?

If Microsoft Edge is closing immediately after opening on your Windows 11/10 device, you should repair it and see if it fixes the problem. There might be a third-party extension causing the problem. To check this, launch Edge in InPrivate mode. The InPrivate mode launches Edge with add-ons disabled. If Edge does not crash in the InPrivate mode, one of the extensions is the culprit of the problem.

One possible cause of this problem is the corrupted or damaged system files. If this is the case with you, running the SFC scan will fix the problem. If nothing helps, reset it or uninstall it and download the latest version from the Microsoft website, and install it.

How do I fix Edge browser problems?

If Microsoft Edge is not opening or if you are facing some other issues with Edge, you can try some general fixes to get the problem resolved, like scanning your system with an antivirus or antimalware software, updating Edge, resetting Edge, etc. If none of these fixes help you, uninstall Edge and install its latest version by downloading it from the Microsoft website.

Why We Must Recreate The Wheel

First of all, I must apologize to the physics people out there who read the title and expected this article to explain a new three-dimensional figure that would redefine transport and how we think about mobility. Sadly, I have not yet come up with this idea. But I assure you, I will write a post about it when I do. This is not that post.

“Recreating the wheel” is a frequently heard term in schools and is mostly used as a complaint. As educators are pushed into new realms of technology, teaching strategies or classroom settings, they must recreate documents and activities to fit these new educational arenas. But there is more to these complaints than the yearly stress of reworking lessons. In the digital age, it can be as simple as a slip of the finger and all of our precious documents have been deleted.

No more worksheets, handouts, rubrics, tests! We have but two options then: recreate all of our “wheels” or quit teaching and become a used car salesman.

Those who decide we’ve got a few years left in us will take on the daunting task of recreating everything we’ve taught in the past. And as we are tearing through The Great Gatsby trying to find a quote about the woman in the yellow dress, a little light flashes on.

We begin to question the assignment itself. “Why do I need to find the woman in the yellow dress? What did this worksheet actually focus on? What skill was I trying to teach?” And we realize that we haven’t asked that question since we originally created the worksheet. Somewhere, years ago, this worksheet was the work of a dreamer, a person who was going to cram symbolism down the throats of every unwilling tenth grader so that they’d never be able to drive past the big yellow arches without wondering, “What are they trying to make me feel?”

But years and repetition have diluted the aspirations of that worksheet. Over time, we lose focus and forget what it was we were trying to teach with these activities, and we simply try to get through them. If the kids can answer the questions, then they must have learned something. Right?

The Superior Teacher

Over time, all teachers become driven by their handouts, their finely tuned worksheets, their greatly loved activities. We begin to forget why we use these and simply use them because we have a nostalgic connection to that one time when the kids loved and learned and we felt accomplished. This sense of accomplishment is something we can achieve often, but only if we change — often. The argument is frequently made that teachers must reflect because students and their needs change, and that argument has great merit. But we must also reflect as we change, as we grow, and most of all as we become comfortable.

Confucius once said, “The superior man thinks always of virtue; the common man thinks of comfort.” Be not the common teacher. Find no comfort in old lectures, old worksheets, old activities. If they once worked, great! Now look to the future and how you can incorporate those ideas into new learning experiences. Fear not recreating what has already been created. If someone hadn’t decided to recreate the wheel, we’d be driving cars on wooden circles.

And so I urge all teachers to stop for a moment and consider the wheel. It has come a long way — and so has teaching — but not because of comfortable people. Be superior. Think of virtue, of quality. Push Delete, and begin recreating your wheel.
