iLuv i1155 8.4 Inch Portable Multimedia Player for your iPod and DVDs Review
Video capable iPods have made portable media all the more accessible. Attempt to watch anything more than a short clip on one, though, and you’ll be wishing for glasses or, preferably, a larger screen. That’s where the iLuv i1155 Portable Multimedia Player comes in, offering not only a big display for iPod video playback but a DVD for all the legacy discs that copyright laws won’t let you rip. It even manages to look attractive; is the experience as good as the promise, though?
To load either your iPod or a DVD, the iLuv i1155 opens up like a laptop; inside there’s a DVD bay and a cut-out for the PMP. The screen is on the outside, so the i1155 is intended to be used as a slate, not with the lid flipped up like most portable DVD players. Somewhat strange is iLuv’s choice of iPod accommodation: the compact slot will only fit the iPod Classic, iPod Video and 3rd generation iPod Nano, and the latter will require an adapter (sold-separately) in order to bring its display up to the window cutout to the right-hand side of the LCD.
The point of any dock of this nature is to give you a bigger, better display than what comes on your iPod, and happily iLuv didn’t stint on their choice. Measuring 8.4-inches and true 16:9 wide-aspect, the LCD is clear and bright, with no shadowing, and has reasonable viewing angles to either side. We’d say around 130-degrees maintaining decent color. An adjustable stand flaps out of the back of the unit and allows it to be propped up at various angles.
Control is either via the included remote or the touch-sensitive buttons on the i1155 itself. Although these roughly resemble the layout of an iPod’s scroll-wheel, there’s actually no scrolling functionality; instead you get simple illuminated skip/pause/stop/etc keys. For DVDs, it’s everything you need to navigate the standard menus on the i1155’s screen; iPod navigation is done on the PMP’s own display, visible through the small window, with only actual playback on the main display.
Sound quality from the i1155 is decent, and there are two headphone sockets in addition to the integrated speakers making it handy for in-car use. Unfortunately the DVD player mechanism itself is far from discrete, with a continuous, loud spinning sound whenever it’s playing a disc. Compounding that, the volume from the internal speakers doesn’t go as high as we’d like; you could hook up a larger, amplified pair through the audio output jack, but that seems an unnecessary chore when the i1155 is meant to be a standalone solution.
Fully charged, the iLuv i1155 lasted us 2 hours and 42 minutes in DVD playback. That’s almost twenty minutes short of iLuv’s expectations. iPod playback lasts longer, but not as much as you might expect; the company predicts around 4 hours, and we got within a stone’s throw of that. What all that means is that you’ll be wanting to carry the included AC adapter and cigarette lighter adapter with you; a full charge takes 4-5hrs.

Jiofi Jmr815 Review: A Great Portable Router For All Your Traveling Needs
The idea of a portable router is nothing new but Reliance probably is the first company that made the concept really popular in India with its JioFi devices. Well, we got our hands on the new JioFi JMR815 (₹999) which is a portable WiFi router that can easily fit in your pocket. With its built-in battery which can last up to 8 hours, the tiny portable WiFi router aims to become your perfect companion when traveling. In this article, we are going to take an in-depth look at the JioFi router and let you know if the device delivers on its promises and is worth your money or not.
JioFi SpecificationsBefore we get into our review of the JioFi JMR815, let us first take a look at its specs. The specifications should give you a preliminary idea of what you should expect from the device.
NameJioFi JMR815
Dimensions74×74×20 mm
Weight95 grams
ProcessorALT3800
Max Download Speed150 Mbps
Max Upload Speed50 Mbps

Jio4GVoice SupportYes
Supported Bands FDD – Band 3, Band 5, and TDD Band 40
What’s In the BoxJioFi JMR815 comes in a really nice cardboard box which uses a slide out function to open. Once you get into the box, You will be greeted by the device front and center with accessories hidden behind it. You can find the details of the content of the box in the list below:
JioFi JMR815
Charging Brick
USB-A to micro USB Cable
Warranty Card
Paperwork
Design and Build QualityGetting inside the JioFi JMR815 to install the SIM card is pretty easy too. The back comes with a small notch which you can use to pull it off. Inside there’s a removable battery and a SIM and microSD card slot. All in all, I really like the design and there’s nothing much to complain about here. The plastic used could have been a little better but other than that, I am happy with the design.
I mostly love its portability. The device is so small that it can literally fit in any of your pockets. That makes an excellent companion for all your traveling needs. The bottom line is that if you buy this device, you won’t have anything to complain as far as the design and build quality of this device are concerned.
Setting Up JioFiSetting up JioFi is really easy and it literally took me a minute or so to do that. That is considering the fact that you have a Jio SIM which is already working. If you have that, all you need to do is pop off the back, remove the battery, insert the SIM card and then put everything else back in their places. Do remember that when you are putting the back cover, you will need to align the notch to the charging port to make it fit perfectly. Also, remember to note down the SSID and password which you can find on a sticker beside the SIM card slot.
Once you have done that, all you need to do is press and hold the power button for three-seconds to boot the device and wait for a few seconds. Once you see that the device has powered up and ready to use (you will see a green WiFi signal on the glass display), you can connect to it using the SSID and password that we noted earlier.
JioFi Features 1. PortabilityFor me, the biggest features of JioFi is it’s portability. I can just toss it inside my backpack or put it in my pockets and carry it wherever I go. JioFi has helped me remain connected to the internet without having to use my smartphone as a constant hotspot source. The problem with using your smartphone as a hotspot is that not only it kills your battery life, but you also lose connection whenever you receive a call. JioFi has helped me remain connected without encountering any of those problems.
2. Connect Multiple DevicesWhat I also love about JioFi is that you can simultaneously connect up to 32 devices which is more than you will ever need. I normally connect 3 devices which include a MacBook Pro, a One Plus 3, and a 9.7-inch iPad, and I had no problem getting stable internet connection on any of the devices.
3. Cat 4 High-Speed Chipset 4. 4G Voice and Video CallsOne of the biggest reasons to get JioFi is if you want to enjoy Jio’s 4G voice and video calling facilities even on a smartphone which doesn’t support 4G. Just download and install the Jio4GVoice app and make 4G voice or video calls from your device. The best part about this is that you don’t need to use a Jio SIM card on your phone as it is using the connection from the SIM inside the JioFi WiFi router to make those calls. If you are someone who enjoys Jio’s 4G voice and video calling facilities, JioFi is the best WiFi router for you.
JioFi Performance and Battery LifeWhen it comes to performance, it really depends on Jio’s network coverage in your area. At our office location, Jio’s network is very weak and I was receiving abysmal download and upload speeds, with both of them not crossing even 1Mbps in our standard speed tests using Ookla. However, at home where Jio’s network was fairly respectable, I was able to receive up to 5Mbps download speeds and 3Mbps upload speeds. As I said, the network speed will really depend on Jio’s coverage in your area. Also, when it comes to range, JioFi claims 10 meters of range but you will get that only if you are in the line of sight of the device. If you are using the device where it is getting too much interference, expect the range to drop significantly.
As far as, battery life is concerned, I almost hit 8 hours of usage without charging the JioFi which is exactly what Jio claims. However, do remember that I was testing the JioFi JMR815 either at home or in the office and was not traveling. So, if you are planning to use this while traveling on a bus or train, the battery life will take a hit as it will have to constantly switch between cell towers which takes a toll on the battery. That said, for a device which is as portable as JioFi, what battery life you are getting is more than reasonable.
JioFi CompetitionIn its price range, the only competition JioFi JMR815 is facing is from Airtel 4G Hotspot E5573Cs (₹999). However, the Airtel 4G Hotspot E5573Cs can only connect to 10 devices at a time and comes with a way smaller 1800 mAh battery. Although Airtel promises 6 hours of surf time, the real world usage that you will get out of it is closer to 4-5 hours which is almost half of the 8 hours battery life provided by JioFi JMR815 which packs a 3000 mAh battery.
JioFi JMR815: The Best Value for Money Portable WiFi Router
I have been using JioFi JMR815 for the last couple of days and I am really happy with the product. The router fulfills most of its promises and quite frankly is a steal at its price point. The only thing that should concern you is Jio’s network connectivity in your area. If you are getting good download and upload speeds on Jio’s network in your area, there is no reason for you to not buy this product.
Pros:
Really portable
Long battery life
Connect up to 32 devices
Easy setup and connection
The range is optimal for such a small device
Cons:
Will only work with Jio SIM
Your area needs to have a good coverage of Jio’s network to utilize 4G speed benefit

Enjoy WiFi Connectivity On the Go With JioFiJioFi JMR815 is a perfect traveling companion for anyone who likes to remain connected even while he/she is traveling. The WiFi router comes with a 3000 mAh battery which can last for 8 hours and is so portable that you can carry it everywhere without any problem. If you are looking for a cheap yet good portable WiFi router, JioFi is the best product you can buy.
Apple Releases Ios 8 For Iphone, Ipad And Ipod Touch
After more than three months in beta, iOS 8 brings actionable notifications, improved group chat support, new picture and voice messaging features in Messages, Continuity and Handoff, third-party Today widgets in Notification Center, sharing extensions and much more. Apple has released iOS 8 for almost all of its devices that run iOS 7. The full list of supported devices is as follows:
iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad with Retina Display, iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina Display
iPod touch, fifth-generation
iOS 8 adds new group messaging controls to the Messages app, a new focus on voice messages (using the microphone to record soundbites to send to friends) as well as quick shortcuts to picture attachments. You can also respond to incoming messages without losing your place in the system, by swiping down on the notification to reveal a quick-reply text box. Quick access to recent and favorite contacts is now accessible in the multitasking view, at the top of the screen.
In Mail, swiping on table cells does more than simply delete messages. You can mark as read, flag, archive or delete with the various quick action shortcuts that are presented. This is customizable in Mail settings, too, if you want a different configuration. Mail also makes the New Message view less modal in iOS 8. You can now drag it down to the bottom of the screen, midst composition, to reference another email in your inbox. Simply tap on the docked ‘window’ to restore it. It’s a UI interaction that I really like and hope becomes more pervasive across the system.
The Health app is a brand new addition for iOS 8, as well. It acts as a central location for all your health and fitness data. You can view charts of anything that is being tracked and favorite specific statistics to view on your Dashboard. The Health app is an integral part of the Apple Watch, which will be available early in 2023.
Whilst the Health app is exclusive to iPhone, the iPad has some device specific enhancements too. Most notably in Safari, there is a brand new tab view for iPad. It collects tabs into groups based on hostname, making management of multiple websites a lot easier to deal with. You can simply drag and drop tabs to rearrange them. iCloud Tabs are now visible below this grid view, reminiscent of the iPhone interface. You can pinch-zoom in both directions to enter and exit the tab overview mode. It feels really fluid and smooth, even on older hardware.
Spotlight search has also been overhauled with some new features across both iPhone and iPad. You can now search for nearby points of interest, movie times, news and much more right from the search box on your Home Screen. Spotlight will also flag up Wikipedia articles about your query inline.
Much of iOS 8 relies on developers updating their apps to support the new technologies, which is happening as we speak. Soon, apps like Facebook will show buttons in their notifications to quickly act upon their content, contextually. The Health app will also become much more powerful when third-party developers integrate with HealthKit to supply the app with more information. You can also add third-party widgets to Notification Center, as long as the app includes one.
Stay tuned to 9to5Mac as we will be publishing roundups of these categories of apps soon, like custom keyboards and sharing extensions, so you can try out all the new features as soon as possible.

Best Portable Audio Recording? Zoom H1 Review
Before actually owning the zoom h1, I did do my own research on the product. Everyone’s conclusion was that it felt like a cheap toy. However, I feel as though, while it is all plastic, it still feels sturdy. I have dropped this mic before and it has yet to crack. (I hope it doesn’t of course!) And upside to it being all plastic is that it is very light. The build itself is a very small mic intended for on the go usage. It might just be me, but there is something satisfying when you can buy an a product for use, and not have to worry about it getting scuffed up. Coming in an all plastic and cheap form actually makes me want to bring it around more. I toss it into my bag and go. And I think that’s a very important factor when considering this type of product to buy. Just don’t expect a tank when your buying this product. Keep in mind the satisfying buying price of it and you won’t have any complaints.
To be blunt the sound is fantastic. With an onboard mic that you get with your typical DSLR, you’ll notice the sound levels are not equal. Every now and then I would record a conversation with two people, and while they are at the same exact distance from the camera, every now and then one voice would be extremely high while the other would be low.– Not with the zoom h1. If I aim the mic correctly, the audio is not only equal, but it is also accurate.Another problem that I had before using the Zoom h1 was the fact that my onboard mic picked up a certain humming noise in the background. The h1, as im sure many if not all external mics, fix this problem. The Zoom h1 mic also removed the audio echo that I received with many other cameras. (Especially webcams)
I do not have a wind filter, as it does not come with one, but I have noticed, to no surprised, that in semi-windy condition, without a wind filter, it does pick up a lot of wind noise. A LOT. Not a negative thing, that’s typical, but don’t be put off by it and buy a wind filter. (If you intend to work in windy conditions)
The Zoom H1 does cannot be directly connected into your camera. You must manually sync you audio. It could be a major pain, and it is something you definitely want to consider. I believe in the new Final Cut Pro X there is a way to automatically sync the audio, but even then, I would of course rather just have the audio recorded right into our DSLR. If this is a problem, you might want to consider the Zoom H1′s big brother: the Zoom H4n.
The zoom consumes only one AA battery, but I still wish it had a charging feature. It also does have tripod screw in so if you have an extra tripod you can mount it equally to your camera.
For a budget mic, I think it is a great product. I do envy the Zoom H4n, but considering the price this product it is going for, I can’t complain much. It’s a mic, that I use to supplement everything, my DSLR, my webcam, and sometimes even my phone. The only downside I would have to say is, again, you have to manually sync the audio in post production. So do I recommend this mic? Yes, yes I do!
The Zoom H1, your portable audio recorder now the perfect supplement to any DSLR or video recording device. Small and affordable, but what does all of that sacrifice?

Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer Review
This is a time of year when we always have our phones at the ready for photo opportunities: holiday decorating displays, parties, visits with Santa, school productions, etc. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a way to print these photos as well as a way to take them? The Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer is here to help, as you’ll learn in this review.
This is a sponsored article and was made possible by Liene. The actual contents and opinions are the sole views of the author who maintains editorial independence, even when a post is sponsored.
Pearl K100 Photo Printer FeaturesPhoto printers didn’t need to be this portable before, as not many people carried cameras around with them every day. But now we all have cameras on our phones that are in our pockets, bags, or purses, or even sitting next to us on a table, at any time during the day. Having a way to instantly print out the photos can be helpful.
The Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer provides that help in a big way by producing small photos of your trips, get-togethers, parties, sports events, life events, etc. It’s small enough to tuck away in your bag, pocket, purse, etc., right next to your phone, to be there when you need it.
The Pearl K100 has the following features:
Inkless printing: no more concerns of running out of ink in the middle of printing. The paper includes Zink Zero ink printing technology. The ink is embedded in the paper, yet it’s still smudge-proof and dry to the touch when printed.
2.3″ sticky-back paper: the photos are printed on a glossy paper that has a sticky back when peeled off, turning your photos into stickers but can also stay sealed and non-sticky.
Printing via Bluetooth 5.0: print via a stable signal, without worrying about being connected to Wi-Fi.
Compatibility: both Android and iOS devices are compatible.
Portable and wireless: thirty photos can be printed on one charge.
Edit photos in the app: use the Liene app to edit your photos with regard to cropping, frames, enhancements, etc.
Unboxing the Pearl K100The small box for the Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer doesn’t include much – but it doesn’t need to. Inside you’ll find:
Pearl K100 Photo Printer
USB-A to USB-C charging cable
5 sheets of Zink photo paper
User manual
Amazingly, that’s all you need to churn out beautiful mini photos!
As soon as you unpack the printer, you’ll want to plug it in with the included charging cord and charge it up. It doesn’t take long, but you want to have it ready when you need it.
Adding PaperI want to say using the Liene Pearl K100 Portable Instant Photo Printer is as easy as using any printer, but it’s not – it’s easier. It’s just a matter of opening it in the Liene app and making refinements if you need to, then printing. The hardest part is loading the paper, and even that’s not hard.
First, you need to load the special 2″ x 3″ Zink photo paper. You’ll need to do this every time you want to print photos, as the paper can dry out very easily. This is why the paper is packed in 5- to 10-piece packs. The printer ships with a 5-piece pack, so you’ll want to make sure you have five photos you want to print before loading it so that the paper doesn’t dry out before you have a chance to use it.
Hold the Pearl K100 in your hand and slide it open as you would on a battery compartment on another device.
Open the paper, being careful not to touch the printing surface. Do not discard the blue sheet of paper on the bottom that is labeled “Smart Sheet.” This needs to load into the printer. Just keep it at the bottom of the stack of photo paper, and insert the entire stack into the printer at once, being careful to slide it all the way back so that the printer recognizes it’s in there.
Close the printer, and you’re ready to print!
Using the Pearl K100Download the Liene app, available for both iOS and Android, and register for an account. I already had an account, having previously reviewed another Liene printer.
Hit the plus sign (+) to add the Liene Pearl K100 Mini Photo Printer, then pair it through Bluetooth with your device.
After agreeing to allow the app to have access to your photos, choose a photo from your device’s library to print, which lands you on the Print Preview Screen. You can choose how many copies to print and enter the editing screen by tapping the pencil icon.
The Pearl K100 begins to print your photo. It slides out the end as it finishes printing, just as the blue Smart Sheet did.
To print out more photos, just return to the app, choose another photo, and repeat the process.
Print QualityThe print quality of the Pearl K100 is better than you’d expect from a mini instant photo printer. The photos with people and animals are as clear as you would ever want them. I couldn’t ask for anything more out of them.
This is actually my second mini photo printer. My first one did not take great pictures when the colors faded in and out, such as a sunset. So I sought out the same picture to print it again on the Pearl K100. I was thrilled to see that the K100 printed it better than the other printer. While it’s not perfect, it’s clearer than the other.
Final ThoughtsIf you’re looking for a portable printer, the Liene Pearl K100 Mini Photo Printer is the one you’re looking for. It’s easy to use, takes up very little space, and takes great photos. Especially if you’re taking photos of family, friends, and pets, you’ll be pleased with it. If you take small photos of places you’re visiting, you’ll still be happy. If you’re looking for photos for the purpose of ogling the beauty of what you’re seeing, it may not be what you’re looking for.
Perhaps best yet, this photo printer is very inexpensive, at just $89.99. You can buy a pack of 50 sheets of paper for $23.99. Be sure to check out Liene’s other products as well.
