Responded To Ukraine’s Request To ‘Sabotage’ Russian Users

The crypto-industry is being pulled into the Russia-Ukraine war, whether it wants to be there or not. After the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine tweeted asking “major crypto exchanges” to block the addresses of Russians and “sabotage” even civilian users, here’s how industry players reacted.

Let’s Kraken on

Kraken’s CEO and Co-founder Jesse Powell responded that while he respects the people of Ukraine, Kraken will not freeze the accounts of Russian users unless legally forced to do so. However, he warned Russian users that such a demand could be “imminent.”

Powell added,

“That requirement could come from your own government, as we have seen in Canada, in response to protests, bank runs and attempts to flee the country. It could come from foreign states, like the US, as a weapon to turn the Russian populace against its government’s policies.”

At your service, Ukraine

However, the crypto-industry isn’t exactly a monolith – and at least one company complied. DMarket, a Ukraine-born Metaverse startup, claimed it has frozen the accounts of all users from Russia and Belarus.

Reactions were mixed as while some supported the move, others protested. They claimed that this decision violated the principles of decentralization in crypto.

Ukrainian-born startup DMarket cuts all relationships with Russia and Belarus due to the invasion of Ukraine.

– The registration on the platform is prohibited for users from Russia and Belarus;

– Accounts of previously registered users from these areas are frozen;

— DMarket (@dmarket) February 27, 2023

Time for payback

Apart from these measures, however, crypto-donations are coming in strong.

The blockchain analytics company Elliptic reported that the Bitcoin and Ethereum/USDT addresses shared by Ukraine’s official Twitter account had received $12.1 million as of 27 February. Millions in crypto-donations were also recorded by a pro-Ukrainian military NGO.

In fact, some users are also sending NFTs to support Ukraine’s government.

— Tom Robinson (@tomrobin) February 27, 2023

Elliptic also observed that donations are coming in from other causes too. The firm said,

“This includes a single donation worth $1.86 million, which appears to have originated from the sale of NFTs originally intended to raise funds for Julian Assange.”

A season of GAVIN – to the right address

Crypto-donations in the hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars have been promised. Binance announced a donation of “$10 million minimum.” Additionally, Binance had previously donated 16,042 BNB or about $6 million.

However, the mood changed when Polkadot founder Gavin Wood promised to donate $5 million to Ukraine’s official Twitter account – if it shared a DOT address.

If you post a DOT address I’ll personally contribute $5m.

— Gavin Wood (@gavofyork) February 27, 2023

Users were conflicted as some criticized Wood for using war to promote DOT. Others defended the move as a way to evade losses through capital gains tax.

One noteworthy reaction came from Solana’s Anatoly Yakovenko. He snapped at Wood, asking him to swap to another asset or use a bridge.

just fucking swap on ftx or use a bridge

— Composability T◎ly, 🇺🇦 🇺🇸 (@aeyakovenko) February 27, 2023

Later though, Yakovenko seemed to agree that making a Polkadot address would be easier than paying thousands in taxes.

On a related note, Tron founder Justin Sun also came under scrutiny after users felt he was using Ukraine’s crypto-addresses to drum up support for Tron.

If you have no graphic design experience and want to find a super quick way of creating your own overlay template, then Stream Maker could be a great choice for you.

The end quality of the overlays is quite good for such a simple tool but it has to be said that there are a limited number of templates available so if you are looking for something unique or want the ability to really customize your overlay then you’re better off looking elsewhere.

However, if you’re after a simple-looking overlay that is super easy to make (and affordable) then Stream Maker is a good option for you.

Nerd or Die has been around fora while and originally started out as an educational resource for streamers offering tutorials on their website and YouTube channel. They have since expanded and evolved to offer stream designs and a whole bunch of other products and tools.

However, it is completely free, and for those going for a really minimal stream look, it could give you what you’re looking for.  Especially if you don’t want to spend any money.

The tool itself is easy to use and has a number of basic customization options.  If you’re happy to keep it basic and don’t care about customizing things too much then it could be enough for you.

However, if you’re looking for something that is going to set your stream apart from the crowd and be unique to your channel you should look somewhere else.

Ethereum: Are Coinbase, Kraken Party To Centralization

Ethereum‘s main chain is expected to merge with its Beacon Chain later this year, effectively turning it into a Proof of Stake protocol. In anticipation of this, users have increasingly been staking their ETH, with the staking deposit contract amassing over 9.41 million Ether worth over $24.83 billion at press time.

While anticipation for the Merge is mounting, so are concerns over increasing centralization within beacon chain clients being used by validators. This is especially true for validators run by centralized exchanges such as Coinbase and Kraken, who “hold 78k out of 296k validators on the Ethereum beacon chain.”

Validators are those that have staked their Ether into the deposit contract in exchange for the ability to validate blocks and also receive rewards.

.@coinbase and @krakensupport hold 78k out of 296k validators on the Ethereum beacon chain and they’re running @prylabs without any published plans to switch to a non-majority client. Their radio silence on an issue that impacts your funds and our network should infuriate you.

— chúng tôi 🦇🔊🐼 (@superphiz) February 20, 2023

The Ethereum network has a number of interoperable clients that are developed in various languages. Validators can utilize these for both their ease and to ensure that the impact of any bugs or hacks is limited to the portion of the network running the affected client.

However, Ethereum developer Jonathan Cook noted in a recent blog post that “the vast majority of Ethereum nodes run a single client, inviting unnecessary risk to the network.” He added,

“With even distribution of validators across multiple clients the consequences of attacks or bugs that exploit specific clients is drastically reduced, whereas single-client dominance acts as a risk multiplier.”

This is because a bug affecting any consensus client can either directly cause false attestations. Or else, it can expose a vulnerability that allows a malicious attacker to force a client to make incorrect attestations.

Cook further explained that while the effects of a bug controlling 1/3 of the staked ether might be negligible, any control more than that would lead to consequences for the whole network. Moreover, the validators using the affected clients could also stand to have their staked Ether burned until the Beacon chain recovers.

An even more dreaded scenario would result from the bug controlling 2/3 or more of the staked Ether as this could fork the Beacon Chain, even allowing the bug to finalize its own chain.

“Incorrect information would then likely be cemented into Ethereum’s history forever,” Cook added.

The network has already suffered through such attacks in the past, and has only narrowly escaped each time. Prysm itself suffered a bug related to its validation of Eth1 deposit roots in early 2023, which then spread rapidly due to its large validator share. While its consequences were negligible, it did give developers a fair idea of the importance of client diversification.

Surprisingly, chúng tôi did receive assurance from Kraken over these concerns. Coinbase though is yet to issue a statement of its own. The exchange said,

“We can confirm that we are exploring other clients to diversify. We won’t be abandoning Prysm labs completely but rest assured knowing that our developers are looking to diversify.”

How To Type Russian Letters On English Keyboard (In Ms Word)

There are a few clean tips and tricks in this article that will help you type Russian letters quickly and efficiently on any computer platform, including desktops, laptops, and even mobile devices.

Some keyboards are made in Russian and allow you to type these Russian characters more quickly and comfortably.

However, if you don’t have access to such a special Russian keyboard, the techniques in this article can be very helpful.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

There are several methods for typing or inserting Russian characters into Microsoft Word.

Because these characters are not readily available on the keyboard, the simplest way to type them on Word is to use their alt codes.

In this section, I’ll show you how to use alt codes to type Russian letters on an English keyboard.

Each Russian character has an alt code that you can use to type it in Microsoft Word.

You’ll quickly learn the alt code for all the Russian characters. For the time being, let’s focus on the steps.

To type Russian letters in MS Word, follow these steps:

First and foremost, get the alt code for the Russian letters you intend to type. These alt codes are listed just below these instructions.

Open your Microsoft Word document and move the insertion pointer to the location where you want to type the Russian characters.

Turn on your Num Lock. Press Fn+NmLk to turn on Num Lock on laptops without the numeric keypad.

Hold down the Alt key on your keyboard.

Whilst still holding on to the Alt key, press the Russian alt code.

For example, to type ア, press and hold the Alt key, then type the alt code 12450 on the numeric keypad.

Now release the Alt key.

You should see the Russian letter inserted as soon as you release the Alt key.

Note: Using the alt code approach means that you have a lot to learn. And as we all know, learning these alt codes will take a lot of practice as there are many alt codes to remember. However, you can create a cheat sheet for quick reference if you happen to type Russian letters frequently.

Instead of trying to type these characters with your own keyboard, you are presented with a virtual Russian keyboard that includes all of the language’s characters.

You will also be given a simple text editor in which to type the characters. After that, you can copy and paste the typed characters into Microsoft Word or wherever you want.

Listed below are some of the best free virtual Russian keyboards.

These are some of the amazing tools you can use to type in Russian.

These are the easiest ways you can use to type Russian letters in Microsoft Word.

If you often need to type a particular Russian letter or character in Word, using the Alt code method will be a good idea.

However, if you want to type a lot of characters, then using one of the virtual keyboards will save you lots of time.

Razer Kraken Mic Not Working – 12 Ways To Fix It

Don’t dig up your receipt and run to make a return just because your Razer Kraken microphone isn’t working. You can make many adjustments to fix the problem and start using the mic.

There are a few different versions of the Razer Kraken. For example, here are the most recent models and their features.

However, many people still use older models, like the V2 or the Tournament edition.

To troubleshoot your Kraken, start with the most likely issues. Things like settings and connections often create a situation in which your mic won’t work, even though it’s functioning in and of itself.

All you have to do is get a replacement cable that will function with your Kraken and swap it out for the one you already use. If the microphone still isn’t working and nothing has changed, then your cables are probably fine to use.

While you’re troubleshooting, make sure you’re using the Razer V3 Pro in wired mode. It just eliminates an additional source of uncertainty.

Remember to make sure the cables are plugged all the way in. Some PS4 players had difficulty getting the mic to work only to find that the audio works if it isn’t completely plugged in, but the microphone doesn’t.

Sometimes a peripheral device is connected to the system but isn’t active. It’s disabled in favor of other devices. There’s a difference between enabling a device and setting it as your default. To do the latter, you first must do the former.

You can also perform this operation from the taskbar.

You can have multiple sound input devices connected to your computer, but they can’t all be the active default at the same time. If your Razer Kraken microphone isn’t working, it might be because another microphone is set as the primary for your system.

You can make the adjustments through the Sound option in Settings.

You can also do this from the taskbar.

Once you change this setting, your Kraken should be set as the default until you manually adjust it again. However, it isn’t unusual for Windows to decide another device should be the default without asking, likely due to other programs that use the mic. If you start experiencing the issue again, check whether the Kraken is still the default device.

Your privacy settings in Windows can prevent your microphone from working.

If these settings were incorrect, they could be the root of your Kraken’s microphone problems.

Once you’re done, shut down the computer, power it on, and check to see whether your mic is working. Check again to make sure it’s still the default device, too.

Sometimes the problem is that the mic doesn’t pick up your voice. Your microphone levels can be adjusted so that people hear you better – but it can be a little difficult to fine-tune.

If the problem with your Kraken microphone was that the levels were wrong and it wasn’t picking up your voice, it should work now. I have to set my pickup around 50 and my boost at 20 to keep my voice clear without any background noise, personally.

Some users have fixed the problems with their Kraken mics by changing the pop-up behavior of Realtek Audio Manager. Your Audio Manager determines whether or not your computer reacts with a pop-up when a new device is plugged in. Changing that setting sometimes fixes those experiencing problems with the Razer Kraken microphone.

Keep in mind that the Realtek HD Audio Manager might be listed as Realtek Audio Console or something similar – if you can’t find it via the Control Panel, try searching from the Windows start menu.

Now try testing the Razer Kraken microphone to see whether it works. If it still isn’t working, go back to your Realtek settings and make sure the microphone is checked and enabled.

The troubleshooter can help fix issues keeping your Kraken microphone from functioning correctly.

After the troubleshooter is complete, you may have the option to send a diagnostic report to Microsoft. You can, but it won’t affect your troubleshooting in any way.

Resetting the USB audio connection and reestablishing it can also make the Kraken work correctly. If you don’t see it appear in Synapse, this is one way to make it visible.

If that doesn’t work to make it appear, install a fresh copy of Synapse and try again.

Synapse is Razer’s peripheral management program, and it also manages headphones. It might be the source of the issue with your Kraken microphone.

Once you know you’re completely up-to-date, you can work on the settings in Synapse itself.

The mic sensitivity setting just helps keep the background noise from bleeding through with your voice.

Once you’ve set this up, you can ensure the Kraken microphone is still the default communication device.

Some games have options to choose the default mic for that game only. Check your audio settings to make sure the correct microphone is enabled.

How To Use Icloud Drive For Multiple Users On A Single Mac

If you’ve been using a Mac for quite some time, you’ve likely integrated your iCloud Drive account to your machine. It makes storing and sharing files over cloud much easier than ever. Since it’s an Apple feature, it works natively with the built-in tools on your Mac.

If your Mac is used by two or more users, you might want to add their iCloud Drives as well to your machine. However, there’s a limitation that prevents you from adding two iCloud Drives to a single account on your machine. You can only keep a single iCloud Drive account active at a time in your user account on Mac.

Table of Contents

So how do you deal with the restriction and have multiple iCloud Drives running at the same time on your Mac?

Use Fast User Switching To Use Multiple iCloud Drive Accounts

What’s great about that is that even if your main account is in foreground and you’re using it, your other account will still be logged in and processes will continue to run on it.

This means you can add your other iCloud Drive account to a new user on your Mac and be able to sync files for both of your accounts at the same time. Setting the whole thing up is fairly easy.

Create a New User Account

If you haven’t already, you need to create a new account on your Mac that you’ll use to integrate with your other iCloud Drive account.

Select Users & Groups on the following screen to open the user settings menu.

Enable Fast User Switching

Now that a new account is created to let you use your other iCloud Drive account, you’ll need to enable the Fast User Switching feature to allow quick switching between two accounts.

The following screen lets you modify several settings related to user accounts. Find the option that says Show fast user switching menu as and tick-mark the box for it. It’ll enable the feature on your Mac.

Log-in to the New Account and Add iCloud Drive

Now that your new account is created and ready to use, let’s log into it and add your iCloud Drive to it.

Make sure you have your iCloud login details handy as you’ll be entering them in one of the following steps.

If you haven’t already enabled it, it’ll ask you to set up two factor authentication. It’s up to you to decide whether you should do it or not, but it is highly recommended.

You’ll now be on the screen where all iCloud features are listed. Make sure the iCloud Drive option is tick-marked. It ensures the Drive is available to use on your machine.

You can now upload and download files from this newly added iCloud Drive account. Also, it’ll continue to sync even when you’ve switched to your main user account using Fast User Switching.

How To Remove Multiple iCloud Drive Accounts On a Mac

If you no longer wants to use multiple iCloud Drives on your Mac, you can have them removed in a few steps.
