Over the past few years, cloud storage services gained an enormous popularity. Many users use cloud services for backup, but managing your backups manually can become a problem.
There are many great tools that can help you to back up your files to cloud storage. If you’re looking for a cross-platform cloud backup software that can work with all major cloud services, you might want to consider CloudBerry Backup.
CloudBerry Backup: A great multi-platform cloud backup solution Five different backup types availableRegarding the file backup, this software for Windows cloud backup supports the following backup types:
Local backup
Cloud backup
Hybrid backup
Cloud to Cloud backup
Cloud to Local backup
Local backup allows you to backup your files to the desired directory or drive on your PC. This feature is useful if you have an external hard drive that you use for file backup.
If you’re not a fan of local backup, you can always back up your files to one of many available cloud storage services using the Cloud backup feature.
It’s worth mentioning that the application also has a Hybrid backup feature that combines previous backup types into one. Using the Hybrid backup feature you’ll be sure that you have your backup available on both local drive and cloud storage.
CloudBerry Backup also allows you to migrate your files from one cloud storage to another using the Cloud to Cloud feature. To migrate your files, simply select the directories that you want to back up and select the desired cloud storage.
Lastly, there’s a Cloud to Local feature that will back up your files from the cloud storage to your local drive.
Speaking of your local drive, check out these backup software for external hard drives. They’ll come in handy in case anything goes wrong and you lose your files and folders.
Scheduled backups, encryption, email notifications and moreAs previously mentioned, CloudBerry Backup offers five different backup types, and each backup type can be customized. After you select the directory you want to back up, you can customize a wide array of options.
For example, you can choose the file types and directories you want to back up or skip.
You can also choose to backup files that are modified during a certain time period. Since all cloud storage services have limitations, you can choose not to back up files that exceed certain size. Of course, you can skip system and hidden files if you wish.
Another feature that we have to mention is Retention policy that allows you to delete outdated data from the cloud storage. This feature is rather useful if you want to save space and delete older versions of your files.
It’s worth mentioning that CloudBerry Backup supports 256-bit AES encryption, so your files will be automatically encrypted prior and during their upload to the cloud. Although file encryption is a great feature, keep in mind that encryption isn’t available for all cloud services.
The application also supports scheduling so you can easily schedule a one-time backup or create a recurring backup. This is useful if you want to create monthly, weekly, daily or hourly backups.
Expert tip:
CloudBerry Backup also supports email notifications, so you can receive a notification message after a successful or failed backup. If needed, you can also add entries to Event Log if your backup is successful or if it fails.
Compatibility with over 50 different cloud storage servicesAs we previously mentioned, CloudBerry Backup supports more than 50 different cloud storage services. Regarding the supported cloud storage services, the application works with major services such as:
Amazon S3
Amazon Glacier
Microsoft Azure
Google Cloud Storage
Backblaze B2
Many other less-known cloud storage services are supported as well, and with support for more than 50 cloud storage services you won’t have any problems backing up your files.
CloudBerry Backup offers simple to use interface that allows you to easily see and edit your backup plans. You can also check all backup storage locations, your backup history as well as disk capacity from the main screen.
Block level backup
Compression
Command line interface
Ransomware protection
Thanks to block level backup, you’ll only upload modified or new pieces of data reducing the used bandwidth and storage space. Speaking of which, with built-in compression feature you can easily compress your files and speed up the backup process.
CloudBerry Backup Pro vs Free editionCloudBerry Backup for Desktop comes in two versions, Free and Pro, and there are some differences between the two. Both versions offer the following features:
Support for more than 50 different cloud storage services
Five different backup types
Availability on Windows, MacOS, and Linux
As for limitations, the Free version doesn’t offer encryption or compression. Another thing missing from the Free version is the email support, however, there’s a community support available.
We also have to mention that CloudBerry Backup for Desktop has data limits in both Free and Pro version. For example, in the Free version, you’re limited to 200GB of data which should be enough for home or basic users. On the other hand, the Pro version has a data limit of 5TB. It’s also worth mentioning that you can upgrade the data limit for both Free and Pro plans.
If you’re a server administrator, you might be interested in CloudBerry Backup Windows Server edition. This version offers several unique features including the following:
File-System Backup
Image-Based Backup
System State Backup
Bare Metal Restore
Restore to Cloud VM
It’s worth mentioning that CloudBerry Backup for MSPs and IT Service Providers version is available as well. This version is perfect for corporate use and IT professionals since it provides central management and monitoring for all your backups as well as cross-platform cloud backup.
ConclusionThe Free version doesn’t come with drastic limitations, but if you want to reduce bandwidth usage, improve the backup speed and protect and encrypt your files, you might want to consider purchasing the Pro version.
You can use CloudBerry to back up data on your Windows Desktop, Windows Server, MS SQL Server and MS Exchange accounts. This is a reliable all-in-one solution.

Gmail is an online email client with huge popularity so if you’re looking for a Gmail backup software, you’ve reached the perfect place.
All of the emails that you send and receive are stored server-side, so they fall under the IMAP and POP categories.
However, unforeseen circumstances can eventually lead to you losing your emails in case of client or server crashes. While these occurrences are indeed rare, that doesn’t mean that they don’t happen at all.
That being the case, we decided to compile a list of the best Gmail backup software that you can use to safeguard your Gmail messages.
If you’re looking for a backup solution for your Google emails, RecoveryManager Plus is definitely a trusty go-to solution.
In fact, you can backup your Google Workspace or Google personal account files just by adding them to RecoveryManager Plus.

And getting to that, this solution can help you with backups on any data you might think of, including the Active Directory, Exchange Servers, Office365, and a lot more.
It also does that by making incremental saves. That means it will only backup new data, not the whole package, and that will save you a lot of time.
At the same time, you get to choose how long to keep storing the files and delete them automatically when it’s their due time, to save space.
Another feature that will save tremendous amounts of space is the built-in compression that will shrink your backups to a fourth of their original size.
Don’t worry because the files will be completely safe, with a powerful AES-256 bit algorithm that makes this solution one of the best Gmail backup software.

How Often Should You Backup Your Website
It’s great that you’re thinking about backing up your website. Backups are essential for protecting your hard work and ensuring that your website can quickly recover from any unexpected issues, such as hacking, data loss, or server crashes. In this article, we’ll discuss the factors that affect how often you should backup your website, different types of backups, and recommended backup frequencies for various types of websites. We’ll also share some tips for effective website backups and answer some frequently asked questions.
Factors Affecting the Frequency of Website BackupsThe ideal backup frequency for your website depends on several factors:
Size of the WebsiteLarger websites with more content and files require more time and resources to back up. If your website is relatively small, you can afford to back it up more frequently.
Frequency of UpdatesIf you regularly update your website with new content, products, or features, you should back it up more often to ensure that your latest changes are saved.
Type of WebsiteDifferent types of websites have different backup requirements. For example, e-commerce websites need frequent backups to protect customer data, while personal blogs may require less frequent backups.
Hosting EnvironmentIf your website is hosted on a managed hosting platform that provides automatic backups, you may not need to worry about backing up your website as often. However, if you’re using an unmanaged hosting solution, you’ll need to take responsibility for your website’s backups.
Different Types of Website BackupsThere are three main types of website backups:
Full BackupsA full backup includes all the files and data on your website. It’s the most comprehensive type of backup but also requires the most time and resources to create and store.
Incremental BackupsIncremental backups only save the changes made since the last backup, whether it was a full or incremental backup. This type of backup is faster and requires less storage space, but restoring your website from an incremental backup can be more time-consuming.
Differential BackupsDifferential backups save the changes made since the last full backup. They require more storage space than incremental backups but less than full backups, and they’re faster to restore than incremental backups.
Recommended Backup Frequency for Different Types of WebsitesHere are some general guidelines for how often you should back up different types of websites:
Personal BlogsIf you’re running a personal blog and update it once a week or less, a weekly full backup should suffice. However, if you’re posting more frequently, you may want to consider daily incremental backups in addition to weekly full backups.
E-commerce WebsitesFor e-commerce websites, daily full backups are recommended to protect customer data and ensure that your online store can quickly recover from any issues. In addition, you may want to perform incremental backups every few hours, depending on the volume of transactions and updates on your website.
News WebsitesNews websites are updated frequently with new articles, images, and videos. A daily full backup, along with incremental backups every few hours, is recommended to ensure that your latest content is saved.
Corporate WebsitesCorporate websites may not be updated as frequently as other types of websites, but they often contain important information and resources. A weekly full backup, along with daily incremental backups, should be sufficient for most corporate websites.
Tips for Effective Website Backups
Choose a reliable backup solution that meets your needs and budget. Some popular options include VaultPress, UpdraftPlus, and BackupBuddy for WordPress websites, and CodeGuard for non-WordPress websites.
Store your backups securely off-site, such as in a cloud storage service like Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Dropbox. This ensures that your backups are safe even if your server is compromised.
Regularly test your backups to ensure that they can be successfully restored. This will help you identify any issues with your backup process and give you confidence that your backups are reliable.
Maintain multiple backup copies to protect against data loss or corruption. Ideally, you should have at least three copies of your backups stored in different locations.
Automate your backup process to ensure that backups are created consistently and without manual intervention.
FAQ How to choose a backup solution? When choosing a backup solution for your website, consider factors such as ease of use, reliability, storage options, and cost. Look for a solution that supports the type of backup you need (full, incremental, or differential) and offers features like automatic backups, easy restoration, and secure storage.
How to store backups securely? To store your backups securely, use a reputable cloud storage service like Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, or Dropbox. Ensure that your backups are encrypted, and consider using a service that offers versioning to keep multiple copies of your backups.
How to restore a website from a backup? The process of restoring a website from a backup depends on the backup solution you’re using. Most backup solutions provide step-by-step instructions or automated tools for restoring your website. In general, you’ll need to download your backup files, upload them to your server, and import any database backups into your website’s database. If you’re unsure how to restore your website, consult your backup solution’s documentation or contact their support team for assistance.
I hope this article has helped you understand how often you should backup your website and the factors that affect backup frequency. By following these guidelines and tips, you can protect your website and ensure that it can quickly recover from any unexpected issues.
It’s Never Too Early To Start Protecting Your Hearing
The world is a noisy place. Traffic, lawnmowers, leaf blowers, music, industrial machines, jet planes, hairdryers—all are normal parts of life and all make an absolute racket. Noise-induced hearing loss can occur at levels as low as 85 decibels (dB), which is a little quieter than a lawnmower.
But normal doesn’t mean healthy. Exposure to higher sound levels increases your risk of hearing damage if your ears are unprotected. Being near a gunshot or a jet plane taking off can immediately damage your hearing and may even rupture an ear drum. A rock concert or emergency vehicle siren can cause problems in less than eight seconds. At 90 dB, the maximum safe exposure for unprotected ears is about four hours, according to a graphic from the Sight and Hearing Association.
The problem is, you may not be aware you have lost some of your hearing, even though the loss would show up on a hearing test, explains Si Chen, assistant professor in the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Department of Otolaryngology. The negative effect of noise may not be obvious until five to 20 years after exposure. Hearing damage is cumulative, so repeated exposure to loud sounds will continue to degrade your hearing.
[Related: Hidden hearing loss is hitting people of all ages]
“Generally speaking, rock concerts are too loud,” Chen says. “Many people come out of these concerts with their ears ringing, a sign the concert was too loud and damaging to the hearing. The main problem is most people don’t measure the loudness level and they may experience the consequences of hearing loss many years later.” Trust your instincts: If you feel tempted to put your fingers in your ears in any noisy place, like a football stadium, the noise level is probably too high to be safe.
You can also lose some hearing from listening to music through earbuds or headphones at too high a volume. If you’re hooked up to a smartphone, Chen says there are apps that will monitor the sound levels you are being exposed to. Apple, for example, has the Apple Watch Noise app, which syncs with the iOS Health app and can track environmental noise. Even if you don’t have a smartwatch, Apple’s built-in Health app will track headphone decibel output (find this data in the app, under Hearing). Other apps, like Sound Meter for Android, measure noise through your phone’s microphone. They can pick up environmental sounds, as well as headphone levels if you put your earbuds up to the mic.
For other devices, like portable radios, take cues from your environment. If you are walking outdoors, and you cannot hear the traffic or birds around you, the sound is likely too loud. You can also buy volume-limiting headphones that will do the job for you.
The risks you take by ignoring your earsEven if the possibility of losing your hearing doesn’t seem like a big deal, you really should start thinking about it. “Hearing damage or hearing loss is not reversible in most people,” Chen says. “Subtle hearing loss can accumulate over time, so most people don’t realize they have significant hearing loss until it is too late.” Once hearing is impaired, there is no way to restore it to its original sharpness because the inner ear cells required for hearing cannot be regenerated or repaired. Using a hearing aid is the primary option for regaining hearing.
It’s not just older adults who have to worry about damaged ears, either. Hearing loss from noise exposure is becoming more common in children, with about 12 percent of kids having noise-induced hearing loss, Chen says. This can contribute to delays in speech and language development as well as learning difficulties.
The effects on older patients are similarly detrimental, Chen says. Those with significant hearing loss often begin to withdraw from social situations that require hearing for conversation and end up having less social interaction, she says, adding that research is underway to evaluate the impact of hearing loss on depression and dementia.
Easy ways to protect your hearingThere are two types of equipment that will protect your ears from loud sounds: ear plugs and earmuffs. Ear plugs fit inside the ear while earmuffs cover the entire outer ear. Chen says both provide good ear protection, so choose the one you prefer. Just know that plugs won’t work as well if they’re not inserted properly, so earmuffs might be easier to use. In a very loud environment, like a gun range, Chen recommends wearing both at the same time.
Another simple way to protect your hearing is to leave noisy places and go somewhere quieter. At nightclubs, sit far away from the band or the loudspeakers. If your car’s muffler is noisy, get it repaired. Yes, the world is noisy. You can enjoy living in it and hearing everything you desire if you take the right precautions.
Debunked: Your Ssd Won’t Lose Data If Left Unplugged After All
If you’re in a panic because the Internet told you that your shiny new SSD may lose data in “just a few days” when stored in a hot room, take a chill pill—it’s apparently all a huge misunderstanding.
In a conversation with Kent Smith of Seagate and Alvin Cox, the Seagate engineer who wrote the presentation that set the Internet abuzz, PCWorld was told we’re all just reading it wrong.
“People have misunderstood the data,” Smith said.
Cox agreed, saying there’s no reason to fret.
“I wouldn’t worry about [losing data],” Cox told PCWorld. “This all pertains to end of life. As a consumer, an SSD product or even a flash product is never going to get to the point where it’s temperature-dependent on retaining the data.”
Why this matters: Users from New York to Rio De Janiero are freaking out over the risk of losing data when their SSDs are powered off. We decided to go to the source of it all for the truth.
PCWorld
It looks like a misunderstanding of this 5-year-old PowerPoint page set the Internet ablaze
The original presentation dates back to when Cox chaired a committee for JEDEC, the industry group that blesses memory specs. It was intended to help data center and enterprise customers understand what could happen to an SSD—but only after it had reached the end of its useful life span and was then stored at abnormal temperatures. It’s not intended to be applied to an SSD in the prime of its life in either an enterprise or a consumer setting.
But that’s not how the Internet viewed it. The presentation—almost five years old now—surfaced in a forensic computing blog as an explanation for why an SSD could start to lose data in a short amount of time at high temperatures. Once media outlets jumped on the story, it spread across the globe. ”I wouldn’t worry about (losing data)” —Alvin Cox
“The standards body for the microelectronics industry has found that Solid State Drives (SSD) can start to lose their data and become corrupted if they are left without power for as little as a week,” said the International Business Times, one of the first to run a story on the blog post. From there, the Internet seemed to amplify as fact that an SSD left unplugged would lose data—all citing Cox’s JEDEC presentation.
But Cox and Smith said that’s not correct. In fact, both said, an SSD that isn’t worn out rarely experiences data errors. Data center use also subjects SSDs to far more “program/erase” cycles than a typical consumer could under any normal circumstances. Corsair
Consumer drives such as this Corsair Neutron GTX have been pushed beyond 1.1 petabytes of writes before wearing out. That’s one of the criteria you’d need to lose data.
Wear is one of the risk factors for SSD data loss at high temperatures, but because it’s nearly impossible for an average user to wear out an SSD, the danger is very small, Cox and Smith said. Even a worn-out SSD would still go a year without data loss, according to the original presentation, and that’s while being stored at 87 degrees Fahreneit the entire time.
For the same reasons, Smith said, enterprise customers are also unlikely to suffer from heat-related dead drive issues. Besides, they’re more likely to use tape or other cheaper methods to back up data.
That’s not to say that SSDs aren’t immune from failures and data loss. Like all electronics, there’s always the risk of failure. Our own story helps put SSD failure rates in perspective.
Smith and Cox said the intent of the original presentation was to illustrate a worst-case scenario. What if the truck with the SSDs from the data center broke down, in the Arizona desert in July, on the way to the archiving center? How long could the truck be parked before data loss occurred from excessive heat? While that’s a scenario that could happen, it’s also highly unlikely—which is why the fear gripping SSD owners is unwarranted.
Tagmmer: A Visual Place For Your Files And Web Links
A while back, this little service called Tagmmer caught my attention as an interesting web-based alternative to such services as Dropbox and chúng tôi Being a viable alternative to one of the best cloud storage/cloud sharing applications, as well as (apparently) a powerful sharing application in its own right, I was interested to see how it worked.
What It IsTagmmer is weird initially, but at its base it’s basically a service that lets you keep and share files and webpages. It’s intended to be both a link-sharing service and a Dropbox-like file-sharing service.
For a free cloud service, Tagmmer isn’t bad, offering 30GB of free storage to all tiers of its service. Once you’ve signed up and installed the appropriate Chrome extension, Tagmmer shows up as a button in your taskbar that you use to add various pages to your collection.
In order to add things, though, you need to seperate them into “Boards.” Boards come with names, descriptions and categories and can be set to Public or Private. Private boards can only be accessed through a direct sharing link, while Public boards can be accessed by anyone browsing Tagmmer or your profile.
When you’re adding something to a Board, you’re given the option to create boards, change title/description/icon for the content, and more. In this case, I’m adding a Reddit post to a board called “Interesting Reddit Stuff.”
Unfortunately, here is where I’ve discovered an issue with Tagmmer.
Basically, Tagmmer doesn’t directly link to content. Instead, it grabs content from the given URL and then attempts to load it in its own little container. Unfortunately for me, Reddit was broken for this, as were a few other sites I tried out.
What I ThinkOverall, I have a mixed opinion of Tagmmer. If it weren’t trying to be its own social media platform, I’d probably like it more, but as it stands, using its own (broken) wrappers for everything just doesn’t work for me, and as a cloud storage solution, it doesn’t come anywhere close to the great utility offered by solutions like chúng tôi or Dropbox.
That being said, this is a service in its infancy, and it’s March 2023 at the time of writing.
Since it’s a new app from a small startup, it just might improve. I certainly hope it does.
