If your PC meets the above requirements, but the Could Not Start Recording or Could Not Start Streaming issue is unresolved, try the next solution.

2] Disable VPN (if applicable)

As indicated on the error prompt, to make sure there’s no VPN when streaming, you’ll need to disable the VPN you have running on your system.

A VPN client or a Proxy server could trigger this error due to some kind of interference that ends up blocking communications between your Windows 11/10 client machine and the Intel Graphics Command Center. In this case, you can try uninstalling your VPN software via Settings app in Windows or remove any proxy server from your computer and see if that resolves the issue.

3] Disable Firewall (if applicable)

Also as indicated on the error prompt, to make sure there’s no firewall when streaming, you’ll need to disable the firewall (especially third-party firewall/security software) you have running on your system. You can aslo make sure the Intel Graphics Command Center app is allowed through Windows Firewall. Refer to the manual for instructions for the third-party dedicated firewall.

4] Update graphics driver

This solution requires you to update the graphics driver using the Intel Driver & Support Assistant.

You can also either update your drivers manually via the Device Manager, or you can get the driver updates on the Optional Updates section under Windows Update.

However, if the latest drivers are installed, you can rollback the driver or download and install an earlier version of the drivers.

5] Clean install graphics driver

To fresh/clean install a driver on Windows 11/10, do the following:

Make sure you have the latest driver installer for the driver you will be installing.

Do not use your machine’s power button. This button is often mapped to the “sleep” function and does not serve the same purpose. Restarting your machine clears any running processes that may be tied to files in the temporary folders.

Delete all temporary installation files for the device driver.

Find the device whose driver you are uninstalling or reinstalling.

Check the box for Remove the driver software for this device, if the option exists.

Uninstall any duplicates of this device, even if they are grayed out.

Repeat the step to uninstall until you no longer see the option to Remove the driver software for this device. At this point, you have removed all installed drivers from the driver store. If Windows has a default driver, it will still reinstall that driver, but you can generally leave that driver in place as it ships with Windows.

Restart your machine once more.

Run the installer for the latest drivers.

Alternatively, you can use the Display Driver Uninstaller for AMD, INTEL, NVIDIA Drivers to uninstall the graphics driver.

6] Install graphic drivers from PC manufacturer

Intel recommends installing the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of the Windows computer, since that driver was customized by them to work with your specific platform.

7] Update Intel Graphics Command Center

This solution requires you to update the Intel Graphics Command Center program and see if that helps. If not, you can uninstall the app (preferably, use third-party software uninstaller) via Settings app on your Windows PC, and then download and reinstall the most recent version of the app on your Windows 11/10 computer.

If updating didn’t work, try the BETA version of the Intel Graphics Command Center, as it’s known that the beta version supports this feature for screen recording.

If the issue still persists, try the next solution.

8] Contact Intel Support

If at this point nothing has worked for you, you can contact Intel Support and replicate the issue you’re having.

To replicate the issue you’re having on your Windows 11/10 PC, do the following:

Launch Intel Graphics Command Center.

Next, download the Intel SSU (System Support Utility) and save the application on your computer.

Open the SSU application.

Asus Aura Software Not Showing Devices Properly. Motherboard, GPU, Ram Missing.

Now that you have established that the latest version of Aura isn’t working for you, you will have to download and install older versions until you find a stable working version…. This isn’t the worst part either, as some of the older version will probably have different issues. From my personal experience, version seems to be quite stable and lists devices correctly. At on my machine.

Sadly this entire solution is based on trial and error as some versions of Aura seem to list all devices normally while others don’t, there also doesn’t appear to be any pattern as to what versions list what devices. For example, a colleague of mine is using Aura 1.07 and his motherboard isn’t registering but his GPU and ram is. After he rolled back to Aura 1.05 his motherboard and ram registered but his GPU didn’t.

Meanwhile, I’m using version 1.05 and I haven’t had any issues with either. Of course, this could be because we are using slightly different hardware, though one wouldn’t expect this to be an issue as Asus designed Aura to work universally with all ROG devices.

Error 0Xc0000142, The Application Was Unable To Start Correctly In Windows 11/10

You may have come across a moment when you tried to open an application, and it failed to open, throwing up instead an error message The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). If you receive this error, then this post may interest you.

Today, we are focussing on this error when opening the Command Prompt. The Command Prompt is usually one of the constant while fixing different types of errors on Windows 10. But what if the same Command Prompt encounters the same error? It becomes really difficult to fix these kinds of errors. But it is not impossible to do so. I recommended you create a System Restore Point. This is because while doing these types of modifications, there are chances that something breaks on the software side of your computer. Or, if you do not have any habit to make a system restore point, I would encourage you to create one frequently.

1] Re-register ALL the DLL files

Then type in the following and hit Enter:

for %1 in (*.dll) do regsvr32 /s %1

This will re-register ALL the DLL files.

You should be doing this as soon as you boot into Windows 11/10 or do it after booting into Safe Mode.

After you are done, Reboot your computer and check if the error is now fixed or not.

This is another seemingly common sense solution to suggest but you’d be surprised how often you may think a device has been plugged in when it’s really just almost plugged in…. On the last two systems I have built I have had one USB port fail on each after a period of time, so try using another port on your computer before making and quick decisions. 

Update the USB Device’s Drivers.

If you haven’t already done this or aren’t sure if your devices drivers are up to date make sure you double check. Out of date drivers can sometimes cause conflict between your device and computer. To check this, follow the below steps.

First, check the manufacturer’s website for drivers and install the latest one they have available. (Google search the devices name model, plus the word driver and you should find what you are looking for pretty quick.)

If the device came with a disk, try reinstalling the driver from the disk (not so common for newer devices)

Find an Undetected Driver.

Sometimes when you connect a USB device to your computer it doesn’t automatically register as connected or comes up with an error. If this is the case you can scan the device manually using the Device Manager tool in Windows. Below are the steps you will need to follow.

Open Control Panel.

Windows will now look for any added, undetected hardware.

Windows is pretty good at finding hardware that is connected to your computer. The only time you may have an issue is if the device you are connecting is faulty.

Check the USB Hub Power Management Settings.

This isn’t generally considered a highly likely fix to USB unrecognized errors. However, it does have the potential to work if there has been a glitch or bug.

Open Windows Device Manager.

Select Properties.

Untick the box beside Allow the computer to turn off this device to save electricity.

Uninstall the Unknown USB Drive.

If you have made it all the way down here you are battling a really tough device. So you will need to completely uninstall it.

Open the Windows Run tool with Windows Key + R.

Type devmgmt.msc into the run window and press Enter.

Plug in the device which is not recognized.

When the uninstall is finished Restart your computer.

Re-install the USB Devices Driver.

Completely reinstalling the Driver from scratch may help fix the issue and remove any possible corruption.

Restart your Computer.

When you log back in Windows will reinstall the missing drivers for your device. Everything should now be working correctly.

Intel just released the much-awaited Alder Lake CPUs. And they bring a whole new level of performance and features including support for DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0.

But to upgrade or build a new PC with these CPUs, you will need to get a new motherboard with the LGA 1700 socket. 

At the moment, only the Z690 chipset motherboards come with the LGA 1700 socket. But down the line, Intel will be unveiling other chipsets including B660, H670, and H610.

So, how do you choose the best LGA 1700 motherboard for your PC build? 

Well, the procedure isn’t much different from getting any other motherboard when building or upgrading your rig. The following tips and insights should help buy the best LGA 1700 motherboard for your ideal build:

Most likely, you will be building a full-sized PC with a standard ATX case. In which case, you will be using an ATX motherboard.

However, you might need to consider getting a Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX motherboard if you prefer to build a compact PC.

The ideal motherboard form factor should be the first decision to make. Since it not only determines the size of your PC but also affects the sizes and number of most of the other components that go into the system.

Keep in mind that you might need to consider getting the extra-large, Extended ATX motherboard. That’s especially when building a high-end gaming PC with lots of graphics cards.

At the moment, the supply of LGA 1700 motherboards in the standard ATX form factor is in plenty.  Manufacturers understand that these are the widely used boards in PC builds.

A large supply means that you will have a large pool of boards to choose from with budgets ranging from super affordable to pricey depending on the included feature sets and their build quality.

Your ideal LGA 1700 motherboard memory support is arguably the most important decision that you will need to make. These boards either come with DDR4 or DDR5 memory support. 

Just so know, DDR4 and DDR5 are not backward compatible. In simple terms, DDR4 won’t fit into DDR5 slots, and the reverse is also true! As such, you will need to decide what you want.

On one hand, going the DDR4-way allows you to affordably get an LGA 1700 motherboard. The DDR4 memories are also widely available and come at affordable prices. And you can just use your existing memory sticks if you’re upgrading your rig.

On the other hand, DDR5 memory support will future-proof your PC. Yet, DDR5 memories are limited in supply and come at hefty price tags. 

With that in mind, it is also worth noting that so far DDR4 vs DDR5 benchmarks in gaming shows barely any difference in performance. So, at this point for a gaming rig, it’s not worth the upgrade to DDR5 unless you really want to!

PCIe 5.0 is all about ultra-fast speeds. As such devices that are designed for PCIe 5.0 mean faster graphics when gaming and rendering. They also mean faster storage speeds when loading games and videos. 

With PCIe 5.0, you will be getting about double the bandwidth and Liga transfer rate from what you would be getting from the PCIe 4.0 standard. 

But it’s worth noting that most devices out there don’t even reach the limits of PCIe 4.0. Thus, it’s only worth upgrading if you want to future-proof your PC or if you are looking to get the latest GPUs and NVMe storage devices that use PCIe 5.0.

That said, almost all the LGA 1700 motherboards that have been featured above offer PCIe 5.0 support. That’s including the value-priced options which come with DDR4 memory support. 

Keep in mind that at the moment only PCIe 4.0 SSDs are available in the market. As such, you will need to get a PCIe add-in card to enjoy the PCIe 5.0 speeds. 

NOTE:Just to clear any doubts, PCIe is backward compatible, so you can use the PCIe 4.0 SSDs in PCIe 5.0 slots.
